Sunset Valley
Sunset Valley Holiday Houses is a collection of beautiful traditional Malay houses, most of which were found on Langkawi Island, purchased from their owners, dismantled and then re-constructed on-site with modern kitchens and bathrooms.
We are located in the centre of the island at the foot of the tallest mountain in Langkawi, Gunung Raya. The property overlooks gorgeous rice-paddies with the island’s oldest geological formation, Gunung Matchincang, the first part of South-East Asia to rise from the seabed in the Cambrian period more than half a billion years ago, in the distance.
Spectacular sun-sets are guaranteed with this marvelous backdrop. If you are looking for peace and tranquility and yearn to commune with nature in a lovely green landscaped environment, Sunset Valley Holiday Houses is the perfect place for your next vacation.
This authentic beautifully reconstructed traditional Malay house, which is over one hundred and twenty years old, is a two bedroom house with two bathrooms and two individual verandas. It is our most luxurious house providing accommodation for 4 people, and can easily accommodate a family of up to 6 with the addition of two single folding beds.
A spectacular, meticulously reconstructed authentic Malay house that has a huge L-shaped veranda commanding an unobstructed view over the paddy fields and mountains in the distance. This beautiful house is extremely comfortable for two people, but has plenty of room to accommodate a family with up to 3 children with the addition of extra beds, the perfect family house.
This stunning and picturesque two bedroom Malay house provides luxurious space for two couples. Accommodation can easily be extended to house a family of six very comfortably with two additional folding beds.
The Garden House is set in a beautiful lush, green garden at Sunset Valley over-looking the swimming pool and the rice-paddies with the ancient Gunung Matchincang range in the background. The house features a stunning, spacious step-down veranda with tables and chairs giving a fabulous view of the spectacular sunsets witnessed at Sunset Valley every day!
The Gate house is a very comfortable “home” for two guests with a separate bedroom, bathroom with hot shower and lounge-room/kitchen.
The Paddy House is a fabulous authentic Malay house that is well over one hundred and eighty five years old. It is the perfect honeymoon cottage, very cozy and charming. This house is perfect for two people. It has two single beds and a well-equipped kitchenette complete with a ceramic cook-top. The bathroom features a modern glass-enclosed hot shower and in a separate adjoining room, a changing room, hand-basin and toilet with toilet shower.
After nearly 12 years of the most fantastic time in Sunset Valley, we, David and Gudrun, have decided to retire. With heavy hearts, we are putting Sunset Valley on the market for sale.
We are looking for a buyer who is interested in a beautiful lifestyle and in running a small but very profitable business with as much love and passion as we have.
Hot running water. Character of property views and quietness after a very busy holiday great way to finish. Pool was inviting and choice of going out to eat or self cater.... Friendly pets.
Very enjoyable stay with outstandingly helpful hosts. All went like clockwork with excellent attention to detail. Peaceful surroundings with easy access to all parts of Langkawi in the rental car that the hosts arranged seamlessly. Many thanks Gudrun and David
The place was as shown in the pictures, lots of wood, nature and lots of animals. Just a little paradise. There was nothing missing from the equipment. The small shop offered on a trust basis helps for the start time if you want to settle in first. There is bread, eggs, butter, jam, drinks etc. In the pool, you have a view of the mountain and the rice fields in front. You should be mobile, you can't reach anything on foot. We always used grave, which was very easy and fast with the app, as the island is not very big. Gudrun has responded to all questions, organizes excursions and massage if needed.
I felt very comfortable. The hostess responded very quickly to all questions. I was particularly happy about the brown bread after a long hardship. The small kiosk is perfect if you just don't want to leave the complex. The pool and garden invite you to do nothing. It was very nice with you.
My friends and I had a great stay at the Air BnB.. Far from the hustle and bustle of town... Looking forward to coming back here again!
We had such a wonderful week at Farmers House. It was perfect for our 18 month old daughter with lots of room to explore, nature to spot and the pool to cool off in. The location was great for us - it felt like paradise but was within a 15/20 min drive of most places on the island. Gudrun and David were lovely hosts, and Rose helped us out when we needed it. Highly recommend!
Comfortable wooden houses, well kept area. Everything is feels accessible with small shop on the property, laundry and services provided by the host. Very helpful owner.
Our 1st Day gateway aka vacation during eve Day. I always dream to have a vacation in classic Malay traditional house and definitely we came to the right place. We enjoyed our stay very much with many memories and wonderful time that i can’t describe here. I recommend you to come here and feel by yourself. Thanks for lovely Gudron and David for hosting us. Sure will come again and try other units as well.
We were there 4, 2 adults and 2 kids and it was perfect. The tranquility, the unbeatable surroundings, the decoration of both the great house and the garden and with great taste. The house is very well equipped both the kitchen and the level of facilities, hot water, bathroom, fans and air conditioning (although we did not lack). We really enjoyed the pool and deck. It offers a great laundry service, we were returned super clean and well folded clothes; and also mini market service with the most essential in the same establishment.
The Malay homes and setting is very peaceful and relaxing. The pool offered a delightful cool down at any time of the day. We would definitely stay there again.
Our family absolutely love Sunset Valley. Coming from the city, we treasure the quiet and laid back kampong days and nights... with creature comforts of modern living of course! ☺️ Gudrun and David are helpful and kind, even the pets are lovely. We will be back!
A beautiful traditional Malaisian house on the edge of the rice field..very peaceful ..Gudrun is always available and responsive. She does everything to make the stay the most pleasant...I can only recommend this place to spend peaceful days discovering the island of langkawi
A wonderful place to relax and enjoy your holiday. The Villa was very comfortable and set in lovely gardens. The poolside is beautifully maintained and gives an unrivalled sunset view. The hosts go out of their way to ensure your privacy. The shop on site provides a good range of items, especially cold drinks. A truly delightful place to chill.
